Surrey to Coquitlam natural gas line upgrade: 2017

The natural gas line upgrade construction from Surrey to Coquitlam involves creating a backup line that will run alongside the existing natural gas line in the same utility corridor. Having a backup, or second, natural gas line means we’ll be prepared to continue to meet our customers’ natural gas needs, even as communities grow. We’ll also be able to do routine “in-line” inspections, using state-of-the art equipment, to ensure the line’s safety and reliability.

Construction begins in February 2017 and will continue to the end of the year. We’ve already started preparing the work areas, including clearing away vegetation to improve access to the right-of-way for our construction crews.
