Beginning on August 12, for approximately two evenings, crews will be applying a layer of dust suppressant to Mamquam Forest Service Road (FSR), Stawamus Indian FSR and a small portion of Powerhouse Springs Road. This work will start at approximately 7 p.m. and traffic control will be in place to direct single lane alternating traffic as the product dries following application.Please note dust suppressant applications are weather dependent and may be delayed if it rains. We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to complete these activities.

Trenchless pipeline installation along Finch Drive is complete. We are now preparing for the final two phases of construction in the area. As communicated to nearby residents on July 21, this will include construction in the section that is currently closed between Highway 99 and Loggers Lane, and the eastern end of Finch Drive.Finch Drive between Highway 99 and Loggers LaneStarting as early as August 4, crews will be installing sheet piling along Finch Drive in the section that is currently closed between Highway 99 and Loggers Lane.Sheet piling is anticipated to continue until late August.Eastern end of Finch DriveCrews have begun removing tunnelling equipment from the work area at the eastern end of Finch Drive.Once the equipment has been removed, crews will install a small detour on the north side of Finch Drive, east of Hummingbird Lane, to allow road users to safely navigate around the construction area.The detour is expected to be in place starting next week. Signage will be in place, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist road users.Construction will take place along the eastern end of Finch Drive, as well as at 1039 Finch Drive.Sheet piling along the eastern end of Finch Drive is expected to start as early as August 8 and continue for approximately five days.Work along Finch Drive will generally occur between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, as well as Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note equipment such as generators and pumps may be required to operate overnight.Pipeline installation and remaining work in these areas are expected to continue through October.As communicated to nearby residents on July 3, work is also progressing in the Valleycliffe area of Squamish.Pipeline installation is ongoing in the area and generally occurs during standard construction hours noted above. However, some activities may still need to take place outside of these hours to maintain and monitor environmental protection systems and to complete work during approved seasonal periods to minimize impacts to local wildlife and ecosystems.Our right of way and trails in the area remain closed at all times, including Sundays, to maintain public safety. We ask the public to please avoid entering restricted areas during this period.To help maintain trail network connectivity, the Connector trail will remain intermittently open. When using the crossing, please stay on marked paths and use caution as trucks and heavy machinery will be operating nearby.We appreciate the community’s patience and will continue to provide updates as work progresses in Squamish.

The Province of B.C. has taken a key step to enable FortisBC to move forward with the expansion of its Tilbury LNG Facility in Delta. The Tilbury Phase 1B expansion is expected to provide significant revenues to all levels of government, create jobs for B.C. residents and reduce emissions by offering an alternative to conventional marine fuels.Recognizing the project’s significant economic and reconciliation benefits, the Province has issued an Order in Council (OIC) that exempts the Phase 1B expansion from the need to obtain a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity under the Utilities Commission Act. It provides greater regulatory certainty and optimizes the overall investment to be made by FortisBC.The amendments establish a framework to support the expansion and enable Musqueam Indian Band to acquire interests in the project through a partnership with FortisBC.The project will remain subject to all other applicable regulatory approvals and permitting requirements before construction can begin.
