Trenchless construction set to begin in Squamish
After months of preparation, we have reached a significant milestone in the construction of our natural gas pipeline along Finch Drive and Industrial Way in Squamish.Starting as early as May 4, crews will begin the next phase of construction which uses a trenchless method of installation. This prioritizes safety and reduces impact to nearby residents and businesses. The work will begin near the intersection of Queens Way and Industrial Way and will progress east past Highway 99 towards the RCMP detachment on Finch Drive.Trenchless construction will take place 24 hours a day, with noisier activities scheduled during the day whenever possible. This work is expected to be completed by mid-June.From May 4 to 15, intermittent single-lane alternating traffic will be in effect along portions of Queens Way and Industrial Way.Signage will be in place, and traffic control personnel will be onsite to help road users safely navigate around our work zones. Access to businesses will be maintained.Once this section is complete, we anticipate beginning the next phase of trenchless construction along the eastern end of Finch Drive in early summer. We will continue to provide more details as work progresses.Thank you for your patience, as we complete this work safely, and as quickly as possible. If you have any questions about this work, we encourage you to reach out to the FortisBC team at [email protected] or 1-855-380-5784.
