Animal lovers and their canine companions gathered in Delta recently to celebrate their favourite pets in the name of a good cause.

We were thrilled to sponsor the ninth annual Delta Community Animal Expo and raise money for the Delta Community Animal Shelter’s Tollie Fund, which pays for veterinary care, behaviour rehabilitation and other services for the animals in their care.

Organizers were thrilled at the turnout and support shown for the Tollie Fund.

“Events like the Animal Expo are a good way for us to educate the public on the work that we do and highlighting services available to Delta residents, while also having a lot of fun, too,” Shelter manager Ryan Voutilainen said.

The event featured local pets competing at games like Poop Through the Hoop and Rubber Ducky Relay, while their human companions could get important tips about pet health and safety, see exotic animals, and even adopt a pet from the shelter.

FortisBC’s Vanessa Connolly, senior manager of external relations, even brought her own rescue dog to the Ladner Memorial Park expo.

“FortisBC is proud to be a part of this event to showcase the important work that the Delta Community Animal Shelter is doing,” she said.
