Giving The Drive’s crosswalks an Italian makeover? That’s amore!
Four intersections in Vancouver’s Little Italy will soon be red, white and green attractions.
We’ve teamed up with the Commercial Drive community to add a splash of colour to the vibrant Vancouver neighbourhood – painting crosswalks at four of its intersections in the green, white and red of the Italian flag.
We’re supporting creation of these new local attractions as a way to show our appreciation to the community for its patience during the recent gas line upgrades along East 1st Avenue.
“We would like to thank FortisBC for funding these new crosswalks,” said Carmen D’Onofrio, president, Commercial Drive Business Society.
“Vancouver’s Commercial Drive is already iconic and this will help add to the character of the neighbourhood.”
The work will be done in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Centre and Commercial Drive Business Society, with FortisBC providing the full funding needed to paint the crosswalks at four intersections.
The first to get a makeover will be the intersection of Commercial Drive and East 1st Avenue, with the remaining three to be determined in the future.
“It’s a privilege to serve this community,” said Douglas Stout, vice-president, market development and external affairs, FortisBC.
“In funding these new crosswalks, we’d like to say thank you by adding some more colour to an already vibrant community.”
